An afternoon with Alan Jamieson

Location

Chorleywood Community Library, Lower Road, Chorleywood, WD3 5LB

Event description

Join local historian Alan Jamieson as we explore the rich history of Rickmansworth, Croxley Green and Chorleywood through some of their most fascinating historic and modern buildings

From humble origins as a series of farmsteads owned by the Abbey of St Albans, the coming of both the Grand Union Canal and the Metropolitan Railway line saw Rickmansworth and its neighbours grow in size and importance.

Churches, schools, public houses, almshouses and grand houses were built – and many have survived to this day.

Illustrated with fine new photographs, this is a must read for anyone with an interest in local history and architecture.
