Tom will lead the field walk across 8 acres of combi-crop trials looking at the potential benefits of a range of mineral-based and biological-based foliar feeds.
The crops include: 1. Winter beans and triticale 2. Spring peas and wheat 3. Spring peas and barley
Data will be provided on the previous two years of trials, with a particular emphasis on reducing inputs, building fertility and improving your business economic resilience.
Trials include Tom and Nic's work as part of the UKRI project Sustainable farm-based protein for organic dairy cows (10047315) with the University of Nottingham
Attendees will look at different cropping systems and how to introduce them to deliver a cost reduction for purchased feeds.
There will also be a focus on how to reduce your carbon footprint, building farm resilience through farming practices and an introduction to biostimulants and field scale nutrient mapping looking at a science and innovate based trial system with home-grown proteins.
