Bath Digital Divide Collective - Our Priorities

Join the Bath Digital Divide Collective (DDC) in Bath and North East Somerset as we strive to ensure that everyone can access and use digital tools that they would like to which could help enhance health, wellbeing, and quality of life. 

The Bath Digital Divide Collective focuses on improving access to digital technologies, boosting digital skills, and using technology to achieve better health outcomes for our community.

We have made significant progress:

• Recruiting part-time coordinator through a start-up grant from Good Things Foundation

• Building partnerships with Twerton & Whiteway Community Network, Southside Project, Bath City Farm, Bath City Football Club, and Reconnecting Twerton

• Distributing devices and data SIMs to those in need through our growing technology bank

• Delivering digital skills workshops with Learn My Way programme from the Good Things Foundation to local community groups

With the recent release of the UK Government's Digital Inclusion Action Plan, we're well-positioned for future funding opportunities to expand our impact in BANES.

We need you!

As part of a research collaboration with University of Bath, we are currently capturing thoughts, ideas and perspectives on the digital divide in Bath & North East Somerset, and will be coming together in a workshop format to evaluate our findings and further shape future activity of the Digital Divide Collective.

We will explore together the vision for digital equity in BANES, what key factors need to be addressed, and how might we engage key stakeholders to influence digital inclusion.

In your roles and extensive knowledge of our local communities, your insights and experience are invaluable.

Workshop:

Our participatory co-design workshop will review the survey data and collaborate on developing our priorities for the Bath Digital Divide Collective. We'll work to refine our understanding of digital exclusion in BaNES and co-create practical solutions.  We are offering a £50 stipend for any charities participating in the workshop.  

All with an interest in this area, whatever your experience or current roles is, we welcome you to join us.

Dr Joanna Syrda (Academic Researcher) is a Lecturer in Economics at the School of Management

Dr Max Western (Academic Researcher) is a Senior Lecturer in Behaviour Scientist whose expertise is in motivation and health behaviour change and the development and evaluation of digital health interventions.
